Encryption Key

Your Encryption Key is a unique digital security number that identifies you when you connect to our servers and back up your files and folders. It is automatically created for you the first time you log-in to the software.

In the rare event that your computer were to crash and you wanted to install our software on another computer and continue using your current account, you would be asked for your Encryption Key when you try to sign-in to the software you downloaded on the new computer. Because of this, it is very important that you save your key and store it somewhere safe in case you need it in the future. You can print it out or save it electronically to an external drive, like a thumb drive.
How do I save my key?
Go to your User tab in the software and click on the link that says "Print Encryption Key" to print a hard copy. Or if you want to save it electronically so you can simply import it, if needed, then click on "Export Encryption Key" and save it to an external drive.

What if my computer crashes and I didn't save my key?
If you don't save your key or you lose it and you need to re-establish your software and account on another computer, you will need to contact your provider and request a new key. This process can sometimes take several days, however, so it is best to save it now in case you ever need it.
You can print a hard copy or save an electronic version of your Encryption Key from your software.
